I have read this author’s work before, but I was thrown for a loop with this one…in a good way! Our main character is Jem, a cat familiar who is a little troublesome. However, he is so much fun. His snarkiness, his addiction to catnip, and his bad attitude cover up something a little dark in his past. The journey to find out what that is, fix his witch’s size problem, and become a real familiar is a well-written, hilarious, action-filled good time. I’m ready to see what more Mel and Jem have in store.
